With extensive experience in the built environment—spanning both design and construction—we have a deep understanding of the full design process and all its steps. Our expertise goes beyond design; through research and hands-on work with children, we have explored how space directly impacts learners. Using a participatory action approach, we engaged with students to understand their needs, allowing us to see learning spaces from their perspective.
In this process, we have taken on three different roles: as researchers working alongside students, as educators experiencing the daily realities of teaching, and as designers analysing what works and what doesn’t. This unique combination of roles gives us a comprehensive understanding of schools and learning environments from multiple viewpoints, making us true experts in this field. We know the challenges schools face, what solutions work in practice, and how to resolve issues effectively.
We collaborate with schools that are expanding their premises, helping leadership teams and teachers develop a deeper understanding of their spatial needs. We also provide training to educators on how to view space as an asset—one that can enhance teaching, support embodied learning, and create memorable experiences for students.
We partner with architecture firms as specialist advisors in the design of learning spaces, ensuring that schools’ needs are communicated clearly and that the resulting designs are functional, inspiring, and impactful.
We also work with councils and education departments as trusted advisors and researchers, offering evidence-based insights to guide decision-making around school planning, design, and innovation.
